The Botanical Greenhouse: A Unique Dining Experience

Welcome to an innovative dining concept that merges modern hospitality with a fully integrated greenhouse environment. This restaurant offers a unique spatial experience where guests dine amidst active, meticulously designed cultivation zones.

Architectural Design & Atmosphere

• The architectural envelope features a classic glasshouse design with a pitched glass roof and exposed dark structural framing, which floods the interior with natural daylight.
• The interior design incorporates expansive vertical green walls and suspended circular planters featuring trailing greenery to create a deeply immersive botanical atmosphere.
• Dark, polished floors contrast with modern, curved beige seating and sleek round dining tables, establishing an elegant and grounded aesthetic.

Spatial Organization

• Spanning a total area of 564.00 square meters, the facility is thoughtfully divided into diverse culinary and botanical spaces.
• Guests are welcomed through a spacious 56.79 m² lobby, supported by a 15.55 m² wardrobe area.
• The primary dining experience takes place in Hall A and Hall B, each offering 91.08 m² of open seating area under the glass canopy.
• A 118.93 m² “Spicy herbs bistro” serves as a distinct, aromatically rich gathering space.
• For specialized events, a dedicated 37.29 m² buffet greenhouse hall is available.
• The restaurant’s operations are supported by a 45.24 m² kitchen and comprehensive restroom facilities.

Integrated Climate Zones

• A defining feature of the project is the series of specialized climate zones integrated directly into the dining environment, allowing produce to be grown on-site.
• The agricultural integrations include a 20.31 m² strawberry climate zone.
• Guests can view a 20.19 m² tomato and eggplant climate zone.
• The layout includes a 20.07 m² pumpkin and zucchini climate zone.
• The space is completed by a 19.95 m² cucumber and pepper climate zone.

This high-tech agricultural facility integrates large-scale cultivation spans with controlled administrative, storage, and mechanical infrastructure.

Greenhouse Facility Features

• Cultivation Hall: A large-span rectangular floor plan featuring a dense, high-capacity grid of growing benches designed for crop production under a pitched roof framing system.
• Logistics & Circulation: Dedicated perimeter pathways engineered for utility vehicles and a main service corridor to enable equipment movement and harvest logistics.
• Administrative & Service Core: Ground-floor layout incorporating staff offices, meeting areas, break rooms, sanitary facilities, and an adjacent outdoor liquid storage tank installation.
• HVAC & Environmental Controls: Detailed mechanical system engineered to maintain positive pressure (+15 Pa) in key operational zones. Main trunk lines (1000 × 300 mm) transition to localized branch ducts (250 × 150 mm) supplying air flows up to 1,314 CFM via designated Supply Ceiling Diffusers (S.C.D) and Return Ceiling Diffusers (R.C.D).

The primary challenge we faced was the conflict of light. We needed to provide maximum solar gain for the greenhouse while simultaneously creating a stable, glare-controlled environment for the delicate work of preparing clones and vegetative materials.

Our solution was a hybrid architectural design that balances these two extremes. We developed a “split-exposure” layout: the greenhouse is highly exposed to the sun to maximize natural energy, while the laboratory zones are strategically designed with limited apertures to ensure efficient, focused illumination for working areas.

By uniting these distinct functions within a solid, soft industrial shell, we transformed a technical necessity into a prominent unit of the industry—a place where scientific precision and agricultural scale coexist.

A master plan and architectural visualization project for a modern agricultural nursery. The facility is designed to support the full lifecycle of plant cultivation, featuring advanced climate-controlled zones, specialized propagation laboratories, and optimized outdoor growing areas.

Facility Layout & Zoning:

• Greenhouse Complex: The core facility features a dedicated perimeter access road and an internal technological corridor connecting three specialized climate chambers:
  • Seedling Cultivation Zone (2,000 sq.m): Dedicated to the growth of floral and ornamental crops.
  • Storage Zone (500–1,000 sq.m): Climate-controlled storage for containerized and aquatic plants.
  • Rooting & Forcing Zone (1,000 sq.m): Designed for cutting, rooting, and the forcing of bulbous plants.
• Energy Infrastructure: An independent, containerized power and heating hub, including a gas-piston thermal power station (two units) and a dedicated gas boiler unit.
• Ancillary Buildings:
  • Microclonal Propagation Laboratory (200–300 sq.m): A state-of-the-art lab featuring a direct, enclosed transition gallery into the greenhouses.
  • Administrative Pavilion (200–300 sq.m): A utilitarian operational hub designed in natural green tones.
  • Event & Knowledge-Sharing Pavilion (200–300 sq.m): A visually appealing, upgraded architectural space designed for hosting events and professional exchanges.
• Shaded & Open-Ground Cultivation Zones:
  • Two dedicated areas (1,000–1,200 sq.m each) for the cultivation, storage, and further growing of shrubs and perennials.
  • Equipped with structural pillars and shading nets. Plants are housed in C21 and C23 containers.
  • Plant Layout: Arranged in dense battery formations (~20 cm apart) with 0.5m access aisles.
  • Target Cultures: Lilac, hydrangea, forsythia, barberry, quince, spirea, peony, lavender, lily, and daylily.

Project Deliverables (Scope of Work):

1. Draft Master Plan: Development of a 2D black-and-white site layout for preliminary structural approval.
2. Final Master Plan: Fully detailed and colorized 2D site layout.
3. 3D Exterior Visualizations: A comprehensive video fly-through and high-quality renders (both aerial and eye-level), complete with clear callouts labeling the facilities and specific climate chambers.
4. 3D Interior Renders: Specialized interior shots of the greenhouse complex, highlighting the cultivation table layouts and spatial design near the glass enclosures.
